My research explores how institutional investors impact corporate decisions – such as M&A, innovation, or investments — of firms in their portfolios. I am interested in the role of shareholder activism in this age of universal ownership by large asset management firms.
More recently, I am focusing on the impact of AI adoption on firm strategies and organizational structure. That is, how the demand for talent is shifting, in terms of occupations and skills, and the impact on wages, and firm inequality.
My research has been published in the Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Management Science, Review of Finance, Harvard Business Review, among other academic journals, as well as in various media (Financial Times, The Economist, Bloomberg, BBC). I have received several international prizes, such as the Brattle Prize, and presented my research at prestigious universities and congresses in finance (WFA, EFA, AFA, NBER, etc.).
